Ellis Square
Ellis Square was one of the original four squares laid out in 1733. The original square became a parking garage in the 1950s and is now being redeveloped into a new interactive community square. The parking garage was torn down in 2006 and will be replaced with a public square along with a hotel, residential units, 50,000 square feet of commercial space, and an underground parking garage.
Coastal Civil Engineering was responsible for the design of the grading and drainage of the new square, and for provision of water and sewer services to serve an information center, a major water fountain, and public restrooms to be built as a part of the project.
